Harmony Bailey (daughter of UPTOWN photographer Hiltron Bailey) recently demonstrated that you’re never too young to be star.The precocious 5-year-old recently performed at the 17th annual Little Miss African American Scholarship Pageant in LA. Harmony garnered the most votes; however, the winning trophy could only go to participants, ages 6-12.
Because of the exceptional talent she displayed at the her audition, Harmony was allowed to participate for the experience. She was also awarded The Symphonee Ryoko Davis Award in honor of the first winner of the award.
R&B singer Chanté Moore congratulated her on her performance and actress/model Claudia Jordan called her a “future star.”
Her father, though, was most proud. “It’s a blessing to be Harmony’s father,” said Hiltron Bailey. Harmony, he boasts, could hold “meaningful conversations” at 2 and started performing at 3.
“I work hard to instill the meaning of faith, hope and love into her and that seems to give her confidence to invest those things into her God-given talents. I can see her being a multifaceted entertainer doing everything, from singing and dancing to public speaking and acting.”
The original creation of actress/ choreographer Lisa Ruffin, The Little Miss African American Scholarship pageant has consistently emphasized brains over beauty, positively impacting the lives of hundreds of impressionable young girls.
